September 26 is the first day for registration for 2020 freshmen of HIE. “Welcome to Hunan Institute of Engineering!” Freshmen successively came to the registration points of each school to make qualification review, enrollment and other procedures. Under the careful guidance of teachers and volunteers, they followed the procedures such as temperature testing and identity verification and registered orderly. Although the sky was gray and the autumn rain was falling, the arrival of new students had added beautiful scenery to the campus.

In the early morning, the school had already set up tents at Xiangtan Bus Station, Xiangtan Railway Station, Xiangtan North Station, prepared thermometers, disinfectant and other anti-epidemic supplies, and arranged special vehicles and volunteers for pick-up services so as to make "point to point" service for new students.

Under the normalized epidemic prevention and control, the faculty and staff of HIE adhered to and optimized the one-stop service for welcoming new students, coordinated with all parties, and ensured the safety and smooth registration of new students. "Hello, please show me your health QR code". In the welcome channel at the school gate, volunteers greeted each new student with a rigorous attitude and warm smile, and conducted temperature measurement, disinfection and identity verification for everyone. Earlier, each school required each freshman to check in daily health on the "Yiban" APP, so as to conduct a comprehensive survey, grasp the freshmen's health status and residence history for 14 days in advance, establish a health ledger, control the epidemic risk through the whole process, guard the school gate, and ensure the freshmen's enrollment work would be safe, stable and orderly.

This year, due to the epidemic prevention, parents were unable to enter the campus. They hugged their children at the school gate and took pictures to commemorate the moment when their children grew up into independent adults. Parents lovingly watched their children's backs as they went away. A rest area for parents was set up outside the school and volunteers were arranged to accompany the children throughout the trip. "The school is very considerate, and we parents are very relieved!" Parents gave the volunteers a thumbs-up.

At the campus welcome station, college volunteers set up tents at designated places early and waited for the arrival of new students. Under the tents were busy figures, facing the drizzle, volunteers were enthusiastic and patient as freshmen finished their first steps into the college. When the freshmen arrived on campus, they couldn't hide their excitement of entering the college and took pictures to record their happy appearance as a college student.

"It is so happy to get daily necessities directly in the dormitory building! The seniors were very enthusiastic, which made me have an infinite longing for this big family of our campus." said Zhang Hui, a freshman majored in Civil Engineering at the School of Architectural Engineering. It took Zhang Hui less than half hour from entering the school gate to moving into the dormitory, accompanied by volunteers.
