On May 27th, the final of the 14th National Mathematics Competition for College Students was held in Guangdong. Tian Zhichao, a student majoring in information and computing science from the School of Computational Science and Electronics of HIE, won the national third prize (with Tian Zhikun as his instructor), which is the a breakthrough of our school in this competition.

    More than 1,000 universities participated in this competition, including Peking University, Fudan University, University of Science and Technology of China, Wuhan University and other universities. Tian Zhichao crowded his way into the national finals with the first place in Group B of Mathematics in Hunan Division, which is also the first time that students majoring in mathematics in our school have participated in the national mathematics competition. After the game, Tian Zhichao said, "Thanks to our school’s support and my teacher’s guidance. I still have a long way to go to be a professional. In the future, I will persist in chasing my dreams and forge ahead."

    The School of Computational Science and Electronics insists on promoting teaching and learning by competition, and constantly deepens the reform of curriculum teaching. The breakthrough in winning awards in this national competition shows the productive results and achievements in the reform and construction of mathematics professional courses and mathematics public basic courses in our school, and manifests the high-quality development of undergraduate teaching and personnel training in our school.
